Masterclass in Kazakhstan

New event from the INTERKULTUR pedagogical series

From April 22 to 26, 2013 a new edititon of theINTERKULTUR workshop series is taking place at the Kazakh National University of Arts in Astana, Kazakhstan. At the university and its professor Gulmira Kuttybadamova’s invitation Gábor Hollerung, INTERKULTUR Artistic Director holds a Master Class for choral conductors.

Along with 12 active participants many choral conductors will join the event as passive visitors. The Master Class will deal with selected pieces from the classical vocal polyphony to contemporary music. Furthermore there’s a workshop on the preparation and rehearsals for choral performances at international choir competitions.

Two choirs will be available for the Master Class Students for demonstration purposes. The choir SAMGAU (conductor: Gulmira Kuttybadamova) already participated in two Festival Choir projects, namely at Sing’n’Joy Vienna 2012 in Austria and at the 1st Xinghai Prize International Choir Championships in Guangzhou, China, each under direction of Gábor Hollerung.
Second demonstration choir in Kazakhstan is the Mixed Chorus of the Kazakh National University of Arts (conductor: Bibigul Alibekova).

The one-week workshop will close on Friday afternoon with a festive concert and the awarding of diplomas.
